A View from the Back Bay

My name is Skip Pile, living in Boston and Nantucket Island and generally watching closely from a distance.

Lately I have become interested in the old-fashioned pinhole camera—-the kind we used to make in 5th grade—-but also like the beautiful examples sold by a grouchy old man in Union Square for $20.
A pinhole camera is a simple camera without a lens and with a single small aperture — effectively a light-proof box with a small hole in one side. Light from a scene passes through this single point and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box.
This is a nice color example by Tim Franco (who uses a modified DSLR instead of a shoebox).
