With a 3-pointer at the 1:48 mark of the first quarter of tonight’s game against the Lakers, Ray Allen broke Reggie Miller’s all-time NBA record for career threes with 2,561. Allen broke the record in 309 fewer games played than Miller. Allen has a career 3-point percentage of .398 to Miller’s .395.
After the three, Allen ran over to Miller, who is broadcasting the game for TNT. The two hugged. Allen also got an embrace from Lakers guard Kobe Bryant. At the end of the quarter, the Celtics announced Allen as the NBA’s new 3-point king on the PA. To a standing ovation, Allen ran over and hugged Miller again before hugging his mother. He then ran over to his wife and children and embraced them. Just a great moment.
