Google announced today that they have reached an agreement with LIFE Magazine to publish 10 million photographs from the archives (the first 2 million are up). According to the press, 97 percent of these photographs heve never been seen before. This is great news, and there are some fabulous pictures in this collection. However, it does seem clear why many of these shots were never printed. And, to my (admittedly under-trained eye), much of the scanning seems automated and/or a little clumsy.
